We ate at the newly-opened Top Floor restaurant at Turnmills, a short walk from Farringdon station. Last time we ate there it was Gaudi, a rather nifty Spanish-themed restaurant; the newer version doesn't have quite the same focussed theme. The food, selected from a special Valentine's Day menu, was nice (gravad lax with bread and butter and a shot of nicely-chilled vodka to start for me; goat's cheese salad with a strawberry vinaigrette for him, followed by duck leg with citron mashed potato and cranberry sauce, tuna both seared and tartare for him), but a bit on the nouvelle cuisine side - portions a bit small, we were both still peckish after three courses.
And tonight, I shall make lasagne. Definitely not a nouvelle cuisine version.
