My office happens to be right across the road from the local war memorial, and there is currently a Remembrance Day service there (it being 11am). As it happens this is the first year since we've been in this particular offices that November 11th has fallen on a weekday, hence the first time we've seen the service.

There's a cemetery in Belgium which features the name of my great-grandfather, killed in WWI. That's as close as I come to having been affected by wars, but the services are still moving.
