You know you're a sad bibliophile when your local charity book fair sends you an invitation to their dealers' preview night -- not because you're a dealer, but because you spent so much the first time you went to the sale.
Picture about 30,000 books crammed into a church hall and its assorted anterooms. I wish I'd remembered my camera last night, because then you wouldn't have to imagine it. Books on tables, books in boxes, books on shelves, books on the floor, books everywhere. And I only came away with a very small fraction of them, I should add. A fair number of them are heading out to other people, and some of the rest will be on eBay eventually.
Will be going back on Saturday to see if any other gems have emerged from the boxes I couldn't get to...
