From this month's Bookslut

There's a new column, Bookslut with Baby, which is going to be looking at books for small kids (I presume). Unfortunately, its author finished off the column with:

Need another reason for wanting my child to be a bookslut? Because being a bookslut is far better than being a mathwhore.

Hmmm. Being both a bookslut and a mathwhore, I fail to see the problem. Educate your child to delight in words and also in numbers, why not? My parents managed it...

OK, I'm probably over-reacting...

I swear I am not making this up

Reported on Xfm news a few moments ago: The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain have apparently had problems getting permission to cover Kate Bush's song Wuthering Heights so instead they're going to cover Ms Dynamite.

[Edit: I've found the UOGB's rather out-of-date home page Geocities, therefore pop-ups; sorry). The discography suggests that they have also copied The Time Warp, Life on Mars and Born to be Wild. I don't really know what to make of the track called Ironing my Goldfish....]
