No sh*t, Sherlock

Blair 'astonished' at Govt targets effect

Yes, well, I've bitched about this on several previous occasions in my LJ. I don't know what our current surgery is like with this, since the only time I've needed to see them I actually did need a same day appointment (and they managed to fit me in at the end of the day on the Thursday before Easter). My old surgery, though, got worse and worse. First you couldn't book more than 8 days in advance. Then you couldn't book in advance at all. Part of their remit is supposed to be preventative care, which (to my mind) includes things like repeat prescriptions; if you can't book an appointment for that sensibly in advance, it's inconvenient for all concerned. You're not necessarily ill, so having to take an entire day off work in the hope that you might be able to see a doctor at some point during it is just bloody silly. Now I get my repeat prescriptions through a clinic who are more than happy to make appointments as far in advance as I like (they'd do them six months in advance if I wanted), and just use my regular surgery for when I am actually ill -- thankfully rare.
