(no subject)

Well, we're into what I hope is the final mile of the building work -- if not quite yet the final furlong. We spent Friday evening and all day yesterday packing stuff out of our bedroom and moving it into other rooms (this was slightly complicated, as usual, by the lack of swap space), so that the builders could start destroying the bedroom today.

I suppose we should be thankful that they haven't been carrying the debris through the house (instead they have been throwing it out of the window, so there's a large pile of used-to-be-ceiling in the front garden, to go with the pile of used-to-be-kitchen-packing and used-to-be-bits-of-cable.

The bedroom should, at least, be relatively simple. Ish. The main change is that there needs to be a hole knocked in one wall so that we can get through into the en-suite bathroom; the rest of it is more along the lines of "new floor", "new ceiling", that sort of minor (hah!) work. But when that's done, we can move the furniture back in, and then the other rooms can be finished; at the moment they're either being used as furniture storage, or likely to get dinged as we move stuff around.

In other news, light fittings and electrical sockets don't half get pricy if you're buying them in quantity. At least they do if you want anything other than white plastic...
