(no subject)

Various people asked me at the weekend about the No2ID pledge -- in 2005, I and over 11,000 other people pledged to refuse to register for an ID card, and to donate £10 to a legal defence fund. No2ID have now called in that pledge, and I've just sent in my money; you can find out more here.

When it comes to information security, I trust our Government about as far as I could collectively throw them -- and I don't even get Child Benefit. They've repeatedly shown that they don't understand -- or simply refuse to follow -- the most basic principles involved (how come a "junior official" had access to the entire database?). And they're going to get it right when it comes to ID cards? I think not.
