Culinary experiments not to be repeated

Let us say, for the sake of argument, that you have stopped at a cafe at the well-known London attraction which you are visiting, and that you have ordered a coffee, while your companions ordered cold drinks. Let us furthermore say that the cafe does not have your preferred coffee-cooling substance available. Hypothesising one step further that one of your companions' cold drink is a bottle of sparkling mineral water....

... do NOT pour some of the sparkling water into the coffee to cool it down. It tastes TERRIBLE....
