The eventual sale of the old house freed up some money to do useful things like pay bills, reduce the mortgage on the current house, all those boring grown-up sorts of things, and also some rather less useful things like buy shiny toys.
Have been out and bought myself a Canon EOS 20D, along with a nice 10-22mm lens to go with it (I am upgrading from an EOS film camera so already have Canon lenses for longer-range stuff).
Shiny, shiny, shiny, shiny tech. ;)

This is one of the crystal dice -- rutilated quartz, in this case -- that I bought at GenCon last week. Taken in natural light in my living room; basically I've been testing how close I can get to stuff ;)
Ooh, I am going to have so much fun with this. My other digital camera (a Kodak Easyshare) is great for just shoving in my pocket to take places, but it doesn't do well with very close-up stuff.
