daveon, I'm guessing you might be able to answer this:

My mother was born in South Africa, but became a UK citizen lo, these many moons ago (about 35 years back), thereby losing her SA citizenship. Apparently South Africa have taken a leaf out of the US Immigration Service handbook (which can never be a good thing), and are now saying that anyone born in SA is entitled to an SA passport and must enter the country on that passport; this is new since last February, when my folks were last out there.

Anyone got any clues, ideas, contacts at the SA High Commission? I can see that this might be reasonable if, indeed, you still _have_ an SA passport, or are entitled to one -- as of about 1995 or so, taking another nationality wouldn't lose you your SA nationality -- but it seems a bit odd in this case.

  • Gah -- "friends" page styles

Anyone know how to turn off LJ's new "feed" style friends pages? Do not want. I find my existing 25-entries-per-page to be much more manageable.

    Merry winter-festival-of-your-choice, all of you!

  • Gissa job...

No, no, not me, but a friend of mine is losing his retail job this coming Monday when the place where he works closes down. (Nice timing...) Anyone…
