The summary version

Stress levels: easing slightly - having some actual documents to look at is an improvement.

Spring: Definitely on its way. Daffodils started opening on Tuesday. I suspect there may be frogs screwing in my pond.

Weekend: Friends coming to visit. Need to think up some low-fat stuff to cook (dietary restriction pending gall-bladder operation on one of them). Shouldn't be too hard since beloved's mother was on such a diet for ages for the same reason, I just need to rack brains and remember what I did then. Roast lunch on Sunday, I think, but probably without every vegetable being roasted along with it...

Hearts: a good heart is hard to find, they say (well, Feargal Sharkey did, anyhow), which may be why two separate friends are scheduled for surgery in the next couple of weeks. One heart bypass; one replacement-replacement heart valve. Good luck to them (I'm pretty sure neither of them read this)

Ebay: finally up to date after things slipped a bit due to stress, work, and bloody Sendmail bugs. Thank heavens for patient buyers.

Pancakes: at friends' place on Tuesday. Was too knackered to be really good company. Decided to drive there (across London) rather than dealing with late-night Tube/train/whatever, which was probably a good idea but necessitated me staying sober. Sometimes it's hard dealing with really drunk people when you're sober (I'm sure I've been on the other end of this on occasion).

Birthdays: Lot of people seem to be having them at the moment. This getting-older thing is overrated. I'm still trying to decide what to do about mine.

Freeforms: that little voice in the back of my head saying "two 36-player freeforms to finish writing by Easter" is getting louder, dammit.

  • Gah -- "friends" page styles

Anyone know how to turn off LJ's new "feed" style friends pages? Do not want. I find my existing 25-entries-per-page to be much more manageable.

  • (no subject)

    Merry winter-festival-of-your-choice, all of you!

  • Gissa job...

No, no, not me, but a friend of mine is losing his retail job this coming Monday when the place where he works closes down. (Nice timing...) Anyone…
