Sunday morning ... lazily watching the Australians amassing a huge score in the cricket World Cup final, ahead of going to the pub for lunch with some mates.

Last night, went to a beer festival in a nearby pub that vicarage had pointed us at. Apparently it was the 'World's First Russian Beer Festival' - the pub had got in 800 bottles of a variety of different Russian beers. It's supposed to run from this Thursday just past until next Sunday, but judging by the number of beers they were already out of, I don't think they'll be able to keep it going that long. There were some pretty interesting beers remaining, anyway, and it looks like a pub we'll return to in the future.

Yesterday morning we had to be at the garage - 40 minute drive away - at 9.30 to go and pick up the beloved's new car; my bribe for getting out of bed that early on a Saturday was to get to drive the new car home. Whee. Sparkly! (It also came with a bunch of flowers and a bottle of champagne.) Later on we went with Builder Lad to pick out a new shower for the bathroom of the old house, to replace the one which gave up the ghost as noted in my previous entry - hopefully he'll be able to start fitting that late next week.

Spring is definitely with us. The frogspawn is developing, and we also have toadspawn in there (frogspawn is individual eggs, toadspawn is long strings of eggs in pairs; looks a bit like strings of DNA hanging below the surface of the water). The daffodils are almost all open, the magnolia in the front garden is starting to bloom, and the tree across the road is covered in pink blossom. All rather pretty. And in a sudden fit of efficiency, I've arranged for a couple of people to come round early next week and tell us how much it'll cost for them to keep our garden under control.
